Carolina Hurricanes v Los Angeles Kings

0-2

After a strong performance, for the most part, the Carolina Hurricanes gave up two late goals to start their California trip with a defeat.

Carolina missed numerous chances including some on 5-on-3, before Brock McGinn lost his man for the King’s opening goal with just over two minutes left on the clock. The Carolina forward had a game-high six scoring chances and had a fantastic game aside from the defensive error. Kyle Clifford doubled their lead with an empty netter 53 seconds from time.

Both goaltenders made some quality saves. Jonathan Quick made 34 saves in net, his 50th career shutout, whilst Petr Mrazek made 33 saves on 34 shots.
