Antii Niemi started between the pipes in place of the injured Carey Price, making 23 saves for the Canadiens who have won three in a row.
Tomas Tatar scored twice, including the tie breaking goal at 8:54 of the third period.

Mathew Barzel scored twice in the third period to help the Islanders rally for a 3-6 comeback win.
Josh Bailey, Anders Lee, Johnny Boychuk and Casey Cizikas all found the net for New York, who have now won five of their last six games.
Robin Lehner made 10 saves in relief of Thomas Greiss, who allowed three goals from 17 shots before being pulled at 6:11 of the second period.

Mitchell Marner had a goal and two assists, whilst John Tavares scored twice as the Maple Leafs defeated the Blue Jackets to extend their winning streak to five.
