Teuvo Teravainen started off his bid to be named the Last Man in the Metropolitan Division with two goals and an assist, as the Canes held on to win 5-3.
Dougie Hamilton had a goal and an assist, whilst Justin Williams and Warren Foegele scored for the Hurricanes, who were coming off a 3-1 win against the Flyers on New Years Eve.
In his 200th NHL game Petr Mrazek made 33 saves.
The visitors have consecutive victories for the first time since winning three straight from November 18th-23rd.

Mitch Marner scored 7 seconds into the first period tying the Maple Leafs record for quickest goal to start a game. He then went on to score again just 5:31 later, another record tied, this time for being the first Leafs player with two goals in the opening six minutes since Jan 30th 2010, when Phil Kessel scored at 52 seconds and 3:49.
William Nylander scored his first goal of the season for Toronto.
Zach Parise scored the tiebreaker 4:21 into the third period. Charlie Coyle knocked down Auston Matthews’ clearing attempt and passed to Parise, who shot over Michael Hutchinson‘s glove for the 4-3 lead.
Hutchinson made his first start in net for the Maple Leafs, in place of the injured Frederick Andersen (groin) and Garret Sparks (upper body). He made 30 saves between the pipes.

The Bruins followed up their Winter Classic victory with 33 saves from Jaroslav Halak and two goals from Jake DeBrusk and Brad Marchand.
Johnny Gaudreau scored one and assisted another, whilst Elias Lindholm scored his 20th of the season. Noah Hanifin registered his 17th and 18th assists of the campaign.

Jeff Skinner scored twice to help the Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Panthers.
Tage Thompson also scored and Sam Reinhart registered a goal and an assist for the hosts, who ended a three-game losing streak and defeated the Panthers for the first time in eight games. Linus Ullmark made 35 saves.
Frank Vatrano, Mike Hoffan and Aleksander Barkov scored for Florida, Jonathan Huberdeau assisted for the 35th time this season.

Devon Toews (no relation to Jonathan Toews of Chicago) scored his first NHL goal 1:48 into overtime, as the Islanders won their fifth straight game.
Mathew Barzal scored two goals, whilst Robin Lehner made 19 saves for New York, which has won eight of its past nine games.
Dominik Kahun and Patrick Kane scored, Collin Delia made 47 saves, including 18 in the third period for the Blackhawks.

Elias Pettersson left the game with an apparent leg injury in the second period for the Canucks. The 20-year-old forward was face down on the ice after he fell awkwardly after his legs got tangle with Montreal’s Jesperi Kotkaniemi. He was named to the NHL All-Star game on Wednesday and leads rookies with 42 points (22g,20a) in 38 games.
Jordie Benn scored his third of the season, with Jonathan Drouin scoring his 13th to seal the victory.

Alex Ovechkin scored his 30th goal for the 14th season with the Capitals, joining Mike Gartner as the only players to have achieved such a feat.
The Blues defeated the reigning champions 5-2 in St Louis with Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko, Oskar Sundqvist, Alex Pietrangelo and Tyler Bozak all finding the net for the hosts.
Jake Allen made 23 saves on 25 shots in net for the Blues, whilst his counterpart Braden Holtby made 37 on 42.

Tampa Bay extended their point streak to 16 with their victory over the Kings.
Nikita Kucherov scored his 20th of the season to open the scoring at the Staples Center. He registered three assists on the game, taking his tally to 49. Steven Stamkos had a goal and two assists in the affair, to help give the Bolts their seventh consecutive win.
Lightning lead the Maple Leafs and Flames by 12pt for the best record in the NHL, becoming the first team in the expansion era to have a lead of at least 12 in the overall standings at the halfway point of the season.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves in net for the Bolts, whilst counterpart Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for the Kings, who have lost three of their last four following a four-game winning streak.
