The Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Dallas Stars, back from their break, welcomed the Buffalo Sabres.
Tampa Bay Lightning v Pittsburgh Penguins
Matt Murray made 33 saves in net for the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at PPG Paints Arena. He is 11-2-0 since returning from a lower-body injury.
Kris Letang and Phil Kessel each scored and assisted one for the hosts, who had lost four their previous five games. Evgeni Malkin reached 600 NHL assists with the secondary assist on Kessel‘s goal.
The Pens scored on three of their five first-period shots to take a 3-0 lead heading into the first break. Riley Sheahan scored at 3:25, before Kessel and Sidney Crosby netted just 16 seconds apart.
J.T. Miller and Steven Stamkos scored for the visitors, who have lost three of five. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 18 saves.

Buffalo Sabres v Dallas Stars
Ben Bishop made 30 saves for the Dallas Stars for his third shut out of the season. He is now 11-0-1 against the Sabres.
Jamie Benn scored for Dallas, who were playing their first game since Jan. 19 following their Bye Week which started before the All-Star break.
The visitors thought they’d leveled things in the third period when Marco Scandella found the back of the net, it was however ruled a no goal for goaltender interference on Nathan Beaulieu. Head coach Phil Housley challenged the call, but it was upheld after a video review.
Linus Ullmark made 26 saves for Buffalo, who were playing the second of a back-to-back, they won against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.
