Thursday Night Hockey

With everyone returning from their Bye Week starting tomorrow/Saturday, it was our last night with so few teams. Tonight six teams took to the ice.

Philadelphia Flyers v Boston Bruins

3-2 (OT) 

Travis Sanheim scored a power play goal 2:56 into overtime to give the Flyers a season-high seventh straight win. There was just one second remaining on Brad Marchand‘s tripping penalty when the defenseman scored.

Claude Giroux opened the scoring for the visitors in the first period, before Oskar Lindblom tied the game at 2-2 for Philly on the power play at 10:36 of the third period. Carter Hart made 23 saves for the Flyers, who twice came back from a goal down to extend the longest active winning streak in the NHL.

David Pastrnak scored both goals and Tuukka Rask made 38 saves for the Boston Bruins, who have lost three in a row and five in six.

New York Rangers v New Jersey Devils 

4-3 

Mika Zibanejad completed his hat trick with 4:36 left in the third period to give the Rangers a 4-3 win against the New Jersey Devils.

Chris Kreider also scored and Mats Zuccarello had three assists. Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves for New York, who have won five of their last seven.

Nico Hischier and Marcus Johansson each registered a goal and an assist, with Egor Yakovlev adding the other for New Jersey. Keith Kinkaid made 21 saves in net for the Devils, who have lost four of their past five.

Columbus Blue Jackets v Winnipeg Jets

3-4 

Kyle Connor broke the tie with 1:14 remaining in the game to help lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Bell MTS Place.

Jack Roslovic tied the game 3-3 on the power play at 8:47 of the third period for the Jets, who have won six of their last eight. Mark Scheifele gave the Jets a 1-0 lead 4:34 into the contest, his 26th of the campaign. Mason Appleton also scored and Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves.

Artemi Panarin scored one and assisted another for the Blue Jackets, with Josh Anderson and Oliver Bjorkstrand netting the others. Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves between the pipes for the visitors, who have lost four in a row.
