Only two games were played Wednesday night and neither disappointed.
The Toronto Maple leafs secured a 4-5 home victory against the Ottawa Senators and Filip Chytil scored in the third period for the New York Rangers, sending their game against the Boston Bruins to overtime and eventually a shootout.

Morgan Rielly scored the game-winner 9:12 into the third period for a 5-4 home victory against the Ottawa Senators. The goal was his 53rd point of the season, setting a new NHL career high.
Zach Hyman and John Tavares each had a goal and an assist, whilst Andreas Johnson and Auston Matthews also scored. Mitch Marner had two assists and Frederik Andersen made 39 saves for the Leafs, who have won three straight.
Magnus Paajarvi scored a double for the visitors, with Matt Duchene and Thomas Chabot also scoring. Jean-Gabriel Pageau recorded two assists and Craig Anderson made 25 saves for the Senators, who have lost five consecutive games.

Alexandar Georgiev made 27 saves in regulation and four in the shootout for the Rangers in their 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins.
Tony DeAngelo scored the winner in the seventh round for New York, who rallied from 3-1 down in the third period. They are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games against Boston.
Mika Zibanejad, Kevin Hayes and Filip Chytil scored and Pavel Buchnevich had two assists for the Rangers, who had lost their previous two.
Danton Heinen, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron scored, Brad Marchand registered two assists and Jaroslav Halak made 30 saves for the Bruins, who had won their last two.
