New York Rangers v Washington Capitals

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored with 40 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Washington Capitals to a 6-5 win.
Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin both poke at a loose puck behind Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, but Kuznetsov was credited with the goal.
Nicklas Backstrom had two goals and Michal Kempny, Tom Wilson and Nic Dowd also scored for the hosts, who trail the New York Rangers by 2pts for top spot in the Metropolitan Division. Pheonix Copley made 26 saves.
Brady Skjei‘s second goal of the game for New York tied the game at 5-5 with 31 seconds left in regulation. Chris Kreider, Jimmy Vesey and Vladimir Namestnikov scored for the Rangers, Lundqvist made 29 saves.

Mats Zuccarello had a goal and an assist in his Dallas Stars debut, but sustained an upper-body injury in their 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
He is expected to miss at least four weeks after leaving the game in the second period after blocking a shot from Connor Murphy.
Radek Faksa, Alexander Radulov, Jason Spezza also scored and Anton Khudobin made 44 saves for Dallas, who hold the first wild card in the Western Conference.
Chicago’s Patrick Kane saw his point streak end at 20 games. He had 43 points (17g, 26a) in the longest point streak in the league this season.
Chris Kunitz, Drake Caggiula and Jonathan Toews scored and Cam Ward made 25 saves for the Blackhawks, who remain 4pts behind the Colorado Avalanche for the second wild card from the Western Conference.

Joe Pavelski scored a natural hat trick as the San Jose Sharks rallied to a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
Brent Burns had a goal and an assist, Tim Heed also scored and Logan Couture and Marc-Edouard Vlasic each had two assists. Aaron Dell made 20 saves for the Sharks, who have won nine of their last 12 and are 3pts behind the Calgary Flames for top spot in the West.
Mike Green had a goal and an assist, Darren Helm and Gustav Nyqvist also scored, and Jonathan Bernier made 32 saves for Detroit, who lost their fifth straight game.

Ryan Donato scored his first goal in a Minnesota Wild jersey at 2:29 of overtime to give them a 2-1 win against the St Louis Blues.
Donato was acquired in a trade with the Boston Bruins in exchange for Charlie Coyle on Wednesday.
Jason Zucker scored, Jonas Brodin had two assists and Devan Dubnyk made 27 saves for the Wild, who have won three in a row and ended a six-game home losing streak.
Eric Staal extended his point streak to three games (1g, 3a) and Zach Parise registered an assist to extend his point streak to three games (1g, 3a).
Minnesota lead the Colorado Avalanche by one point for the second wild card place in the Western Conference.
Alex Pietrangelo scored and Jake Allen made 33 saves for the Blues, who have lost two of three, following an 11-game winning streak. They lead the Dallas Stars by 5pts for third place in the Central Division.
Vladimir Tarasenko had an assist and has at least 1pt in 14 of his past 16 games (12g, 12a).
This was the third game in the last six days to go into overtime for the Blues (2-0-1).

Austin Czarnik scored with 41 seconds left in the third period as the Calgary Flames won for the fifth game running, a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators.
Mikael Backlund also scored and David Rittich made 22 saves for the Flames, who lead the San Jose Sharks by 3pts for top spot in the Pacific Division and the Western Conference.
Brady Tkachuk scored for the Senators on an emotional night for the family, with him facing brother Matthew, who said “I’m happy for my brother. What a sick goal that was.”
Craig Anderson made 33 saves for Ottawa, who have lost four in succession.
Calgary have outscored their opponents 18-10 during their five-game winning streak.

The Arizona Coyotes moved within three points of the second wild card place in the West with their third straight win, 4-1 against the struggling Winnipeg Jets, who have lost four of their last five.
Darcy Kuemper made 34 saves and Clayton Keller scored his first goal in 14 games for Arizona, who have won six of their last eight and have allowed two or fewer goals in each of those wins.
Patrik Laine scored for the Jets, who lead the Central Division by 1pt over the Nashville Predators, despite losing seven of their last 10. Laurent Brossoit made 20 saves
