Juventus v Atlético Madrid

3-0 ( 3-2 agg)

Cristiano Ronaldo‘s hat trick sealed a 3-0 victory on the night and 3-2 on aggregate, sending Juventus through and knocking out Atlético Madrid.

It couldn’t have come at a better time for the Portuguese, with fans of the Turin club uneased by not seeing their £99m summer signing produce the sort of displays in Europe that helped Real Madrid win four Champions League titles in five seasons.

The hat trick, which was his eighth in the competition, took his Champions League goal total to 124. The home fans erupted upon the final whistle as the players rushed to Ronaldo.

Atlético’s defeat means they’ll miss out on the chance to play the final at their own Wanda Metropolitano stadium on June 1.
